Medicated
This series is a commentary on the modern rituals of self-medication, highlighting the spectrum of substances people choose to cope, escape, and heal. Each image is a window into societal norms and personal choices. By framing these spaces—the bodega, the pharmacy, and the liquor store—as altars, I invite the viewer to reflect on the role of substances as both sources of and remedies for mental and physical struggles. This series is intended to spark a dialogue about our culture, values, and vulnerabilities. Through this work, I want the viewer to question the roles these substances play in their life, and to reexamine the systems, perceptions, and stigmas that surround vices and modern-medicine.
